On Monday night (February 1), the Lower Merion Township Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of a preliminary sketch plan for a development project which would replace the Lord Taylor store at Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center, with a six story building containing 9,600 sq. ft of retail space, 230 dwelling units, and 257 parking spaces in structured parking.

The applicant for the new project is Federal Realty Investment Trust, the same company that owns and operates the shopping center where the Lord and Taylor store has been located since 1955.

The Township Building and Planning Committee is expected to review the sketch plan on Wednesday night (February 10). The meeting will be televised live on Comcast Cable Channel 7 and Verizon FiOS Channel 37 as well as online at https://lmtv.viebit.com/.
