591,247 Reason$ Why Kathy Barnette Needs To Be Taken Seriously

by Gerry July 20, 2021

Kathy Barnette

Kathy Barnette turned some heads recently when her Federal Election Commission  (F.E.C) campaign finance report revealed that she had raised more money in the second quarter than any of the other Republicans in the race for U.S. Senate.

For the period between April 1 and June 30 of 2021, Barnette reported net campaign contributions of $591,247.39. Perhaps more impressively, Barnette’s contributions came from approximately 900 different contributors, many of whom were from out of state.

In 2020 Barnette ran against and lost to Madeleine Dean in the in the 4th Congressional District. After the election, she claimed that 500 foreigners and several hundred dead people voted in her election. Barnette never responded to numerous requests to provide documentation to support those claims.

Jeff Bartos, of Merion Park, wasn’t too far behind Barnette. His net contributions for the second quarter were $564918.27. Bartos report named approximately 500 contributors.

Sean Parnell, who ran unsuccessfully in Western Pennsylvania against Conor Lamb for a U.S. House Seat in 2020, was also in the same ballpark as Barnette and Bartos. According to his second-quarter F.E.C. report, Parnell had net contributions of $524,697.93. His report shows about 750  contributors.

Sean Gale, brother of Montgomery County Commission Joe Gale (Joe Gale is running for Governor), hasn’t quite ramped up his fundraising efforts in the way that the other candidates have. He only reported contributions of  $6102.59 for the quarter. Gale’s report shows a total of 12 contributions, seven of which are from himself.

On his Facebook Page, Joe Gale has attacked Bartos on several occasions. More recently,  for five days in a row, Gale called attention to the amount of money that Barnette spent on her hair and makeup. So far Gale hasn’t attacked Parnell.

Family Learning To Luge

Want to Try Luge? From Lower Merion, It Starts With a Drive to Lake Placid

I was watching the Luge on NBC over the weekend. I thought it was boring, especially when juxtaposed against the more dramatic events, like curling.  The color commentator kept explaining how each “slider” was doing something slightly better or worse than the others, but to my untrained eye, they all looked the same: feet first, […]

These Garments Have Been Politically Maligned

Most non-Arabs who wear the keffiyeh do not intend it to be Anti-Semitic in any way. They wear it as an expression of sympathy for Palestinian civilians, support for human rights, concern about war, or identification with a broader cause of national identity and self-determination. In their minds, it is directed toward Palestinians, not against […]

What Does My Fountain Pen Have In Common With The Former Lord & Taylor In Bala Cynwyd?

Both come out of the work of Raymond Loewy and his design firm. Raymond Loewy (1893–1986) helped define what modern America looked like in the mid-20th century. Through his design firm, he worked across an unusually wide range of industries—transportation, consumer products, branding, and architecture—often simultaneously. No one in history is more closely associated with […]

January 16-18: The Philly Pen Show — A Delightfully Analog Experience

f you’re looking for a break from screens, alerts, and endless scrolling, the Philly Pen Show might be the cure—at least temporarily. It’s an unapologetically analog event: pens, paper, ink, and the people who still care deeply about them. Whether you’re a serious collector, someone who misses the feel of writing by hand, or just […]
